There is no footprint of a building on this site on the 1872 Map of the Village. Until 1917 this lot was a part of the property of the house to the north. There certainly was a building of some kind here by 1872 since assessed values for the two properties doubled from 1878 to 1889 indicating perhaps the construction of this house, or major changes to this building, and the one to the north. The enclosed front porch, probably constructed about 1920, has a native stone foundation.

In the early 1990s, as part of a plan to restore the house, a two story wing was added to the south & east.
